I wonder if those in the queue, who were expecting to buy a ticket 'for later', will actually now stay in the queue until 7...

Having posted last 6yrs 9mths ago I have to say this is all so exciting but I'm too old to jump on a train into London to q for 2 hours in the rain to not get a ticket, or to find out its only a 20min show........So i have to hope they have a proper show, but again I doubt I will get a ticket.

Having been lucky enough to see Price 18 times, maybe its someon elses turn. Good luck folks and make sure you tell us all about it biggrin

Yep, 22 times for me...too old & too many commitments to drop everything for a 3 hour journey without some gurantee of

$10,000 a night is a little over £6,000. I doubt that would even cover the wages bill for the vast crew and security, let alone logistics, venue hire, insurance etc. This leg of the 'tour' is running at a loss.

It will probabaly be subsidised by the Record label releasing the album too so he will still get paid for his time, with the venues there is no saying they are all booked already, if not, with short notice bookings they will pay a heavily discounted rate if its club/small capacity venues it wont be a great deal of cost involved other than the crew to move around the AV equipment. Places like electric ballroom wont work the same as say if he was going to book the Barbican Theatre, its free exposure for them, and its the bar where they make their real money where they can make probabaly £100k alone so a venue high isnt the big earner for them

I have already heard from one person who said he wouldn't stick around until 7pm in the rain. Now I just need about 300 other people to think the same thing.

Maybe if it pours with rain and is incredibly windy loads of people will give up and I can just rock up at 7pm and walk straight in?

biggrin I certainly wouldn't, but got the feeling that quite a few were more 'casual' fans that got caught up in the drama.

That said, I "got the feeling" from twitter, so it could easily be bollocks...

OK, here's the latest from the queue. A security guard just walked the length of the line telling people tickets aren't going on sale until 7 p.m. The reason why the queue looked to get a little shorter is as a result of people leaving however my brother is sticking with it, as are the people he's met in the queue. Still no definite word though on how many tickets per person will be sold but I'll be giving it a miss myself anyway. As long as my brother gets in who has been standing out there for hours and will be standing out there for more hours to come, I'll be happy. Same for all of the other die-hards. Good luck and enjoy the show! x

SO!
Had a chat with security just now and:
We are NOT queuing for tickets, we are queuing for the GIG which opens doors at 7.
It was a rumour to begin with I'm just grateful I took the rest of the day off.
I see I'm a little behind the curve but at least my rumour is first hand.
Scrub the dishes!!

Venue security just been round. Definitely no tickets. Pay £10 on door. Doors at 7 and buy then so god knows when he'll be onstage.

My pal is somewhere near the front of the queue and I'm thinking of going to join him, but I can't get into London until around 5. Not a queue jumper by nature, so a bit apprehensive. Will I be shamed out of the queue by angry funk fans? razz

Whether the record company pay or not, it's still not revenue generating. He had 10 security at LLH's flat, that's half the money right there, and you have to expect there will be considerably more tonight.

Knowing him, probably about midnight!

There are going to be some tired, wet, and hungry people in the Electric Ballroom tonight.

I'm gonna have hope this arrangement sticks for a few more days. I can be free all of Friday and Saturday so I will come down early and stand in line, with no worries about getting home for work the following day etc. To all of you already soaking in the line you will obviously have a great time tonight.

Anyone think he's going for a younger audience now to reach a new generation?

We've all got jobs, families & responsibilities. Most of us could and would fork out £100+ for a Prince gig within one days notice if we were guaranteed a pre-booked ticket. However, younger people with a tenner in their pockets and all the time in the world to line up on a rainy Tuesday afternoon generally have a better chance of getting in.

If it's anything like those arses at the Hammersmith Apollo on the One Night Alone tour they'll feed you to the lions!

Got to admit it does piss you off when one person stands in line and then 10 minutes before doors open along come their 5 mates.

Yeah, who are these people who can spend all afternoon on a weekday standing in a queue?

Bah. I feel old.

Having people stand out in shitty weather getting wet and windswept.... some for up to seven hours....is a real nice thing to do!

Do you get a kick in the balls when you eventually get through the door as well!

We can Funk!!!!

"London, i've adopted a name that has no pronounciation.... is that cool with you?"

"YEAH!!!"

"Yeah, well then fuck those other fools!"

Weather he makes money from the gigs or from the label, him and his team will be getting paid one way or another. Could be the tour is sponsored by some brands, Events i've managed in the past with some top artists had sponsors from Coca-cola and things, this boosts revenue, I guess we'll never know, but he wont be doing it for no profit thats for sure.
